LIC Select Credit Card
The LIC Select Credit Card is the premium lifetime-free variant resulting from the collaboration between IDFC FIRST Bank, LIC, and Mastercard, offering twice the earning power of the entry-tier Classic. Cardholders receive 10 reward points per ₹125 spent (~2% return) when paying insurance premiums on LIC of India's official web portal. Everyday non-insurance transactions earn 5 reward points per ₹125 (~1%), with spends on Essentials (groceries, utilities, railway tickets, FASTag, education, and government dues) earning at the same 5-point rate subject to a shared monthly ceiling of 600 points. Points carry a value of ₹0.25 each and remain valid for three years from the date of credit. Enhanced lifestyle privileges include 2 complimentary domestic airport lounge visits and 4 railway lounge visits every quarter, a 1% fuel surcharge waiver up to ₹300 per statement cycle, complimentary insurance cover, and a 2,000-point welcome incentive on ₹10,000 spent within 30 days of issuance. The card carries a 3.5% foreign currency markup. With both LIC co-branded options offered lifetime-free, opting for the Select depends primarily on fulfilling its stricter income eligibility criteria.
LIC Classic Credit Card
Co-branded by IDFC FIRST Bank, LIC, and Mastercard, the LIC Classic Credit Card is an entry-level, lifetime-free card focused primarily on policy premium payments. It earns 6 reward points per ₹125 spent (~1.2% return) on insurance premiums settled directly through the official LIC of India website, and 3 reward points per ₹125 (~0.6%) across other retail categories such as utilities, groceries, education, railways, and government transactions—with an aggregate monthly cap of 300 points applied to Essentials categories. Reward points carry a valuation of ₹0.25 each and remain valid for three years from accrual. Added benefits include 1 domestic airport lounge visit and 2 railway lounge visits per quarter, a 1% fuel surcharge waiver (capped at ₹200 per cycle), complimentary insurance protection, and a 1,000-point welcome gift upon spending ₹5,000 within the first 30 days. Foreign currency transactions incur a standard 3.5% markup. While reward acceleration is strictly restricted to official LIC online portal transactions, the zero-annual-fee structure ensures the card carries no maintenance burden.
