Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card

Mid-tierFee variesTravel

The Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card is a NeuCoins co-brand with a ₹1,499 fee reversed at ₹3 lakh of annual spend. It pays 5% back as NeuCoins on non-EMI spends at Tata Neu and partner Tata brands (BigBasket, Croma, Westside, Tata 1mg, Air India, Taj) and 1.5% on everything else, including UPI transactions on this RuPay variant, plus an additional up to 5% via NeuPass on select Tata Neu categories. Several categories carry their own monthly NeuCoin ceilings — grocery, insurance, utilities and telecom at 2,000 each, UPI at 500 — and fuel, wallet loads, rent, government, education, gaming, cash advances and EMI earn nothing at all. A NeuCoin is worth ₹1 within the Tata ecosystem, and a 1,499-NeuCoin welcome benefit neutralises the first-year fee. SBI's terms exclude Merchant EMI and Flexipay from earning, unlike the HDFC Tata Neu cards. It carries an unusually low 1.99% forex markup, 8 domestic lounge visits (2 per quarter, on ₹75,000 previous-quarter spend) and 4 international visits via Priority Pass — though SBI's published Tata Neu domestic lounge list contains no metro airport at all.

✓ Pros

  • 5% back as NeuCoins across Tata Neu and partner Tata brands (BigBasket, Croma, Westside, Air India, Taj and more)
  • Low 1.99% foreign-currency markup — well under the 3.5% most cards charge, though a handful of premium cards now charge nothing at all
  • RuPay UPI linkage earns 1.5% NeuCoins even on UPI transactions, unusual for a rewards card
  • 8 domestic plus 4 international lounge visits a year via Priority Pass

✕ Cons

  • Real value is concentrated inside the Tata ecosystem; 1.5% base is only average elsewhere
  • Merchant EMI and Flexipay earn no NeuCoins on SBI (the HDFC Tata Neu cards pay the base rate on merchant EMI)
  • Grocery, insurance, utilities and telecom each cap at 2,000 NeuCoins a month, and UPI at 500
  • Fuel, wallet loads, rent, government, education, gaming, cash advances and EMI earn nothing
  • Lounge access is conditional on Rs. 75,000 spend in the previous quarter, and SBI's published Tata Neu lounge list contains no metro airport
  • Annual fee reversal needs Rs. 3 lakh of spend

The concern Real value is concentrated inside the Tata ecosystem — the 1.5% base is only average elsewhere and NeuCoins are best spent on Tata Neu.

The bottom line

This co-branded card offers compelling value for dedicated Tata shoppers, combining a strong 5% return within the conglomerate's ecosystem, an above-average 1.5% rate on UPI spends, and a low 1.99% forex markup that easily beats the standard 3.5% market rate. Its overall worth is tied directly to how frequently you transact with Tata brands; regular patrons will find substantial value, while occasional shoppers may prefer more flexible cashback alternatives. Because an equivalent version is issued by HDFC Bank, prospective cardholders can select based on their preferred banking ecosystem.

Portfolio fee revision (education and wallet-load fees added)

SBI Card's portfolio-wide fee revision added a 1% fee on education payments made through third-party apps and a 1% fee on every wallet load above Rs.1,000, alongside higher cash-payment, cheque-dishonour and cash-withdrawal charges. The MITC also carries a 1% Utility Payments Fee where utility spend exceeds Rs.50,000 in a billing cycle (from 1 Dec 2024) and a Rs.199 processing fee on every rent-payment transaction. Recorded here 2026-08-06; the change applied portfolio-wide but had only been carried on a single card file.

NeuCoins given a 12-month expiry

No fixed expiry (effectively indefinite) → 12 months from end of credit month

From 1 Aug 2025, Tata Digital applied a fixed validity to NeuCoins at the NeuPass account level: NeuCoins credited on or after that date expire 12 months from the end of the month they are credited, and pre-existing non-promotional balances were set to expire 31 Jul 2026. Because NeuCoins pool in the shared Tata Neu account regardless of which card earned them, this platform-wide change also governs NeuCoins earned on the Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card, ending indefinite hoarding.
