Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card
The Swiggy HDFC card earns 10% cashback across ALL Swiggy-app spend — food ordering, Instamart, Dineout and Genie — under a single ₹1,500-per-cycle cap. From 21 April 2026 each Swiggy transaction must be ₹249 or more to earn the 10%. On top, it pays 5% on a select list of online categories — apparel, electronics, department stores, pharmacies, local cabs and a few more — under its own ₹1,500/cycle cap, which Cleartrip now shares; anything outside that MCC list drops to the 1% base (cap ₹500/cycle). Apply through the Swiggy app rather than HDFC's site and the 3-month Swiggy One welcome extends to 12. The ₹500 fee waives at ₹2 lakh of annual spend, and the card was not devalued in 2026 — making it one of the strongest food-delivery cards for heavy Swiggy users. Fuel, rent, government payments, wallet and gift-card loads, jewellery and all EMI earn nothing.

Should you get it?
Best for: Swiggy app power user (food + Instamart), Urban resident ordering 5+ times per week, Instamart quick commerce for groceries, Does not want to track multiple apps — Swiggy-first household
Mid tier — a solid all-rounder for steady monthly spend.
Strongest value if you spend heavily on Dining ( 10% back).
✓ Pros
- 10% back on entire Swiggy app — food delivery + Instamart quick commerce + Dineout restaurant bookings all earn 10%
- ₹7,000/month Swiggy spend earns ₹8,400/year — the fee pays for itself in 3 weeks of normal Swiggy usage
- Annual fee waived at ₹2L spend — Swiggy regulars hit this by April
- Works across the full Swiggy super-app: food, groceries, dining out
✕ Cons
- 10% capped at ₹1,500/month — max annual benefit from Swiggy is ₹18,000 regardless of spend above ₹15,000/month
- Non-Swiggy spend earns only 1% — this is a dedicated Swiggy card, not an all-rounder
- The 5% is allow-listed by MCC, not "all online" — anything off the list earns the 1% base
- Paying a Swiggy order out of Swiggy Money earns nothing; Swiggy Liquor and Minis are excluded too
- Fuel, rent, government payments, wallet and gift-card loads, jewellery and all EMI earn nothing
- If you split food delivery between Swiggy and Zomato, Axis ACE (4% on both) may earn more overall

How to redeem rewards
Ways to convert what you earn into real value.
🎁 Cashback credited as statement credit automatically — no points to redeem
🎁 5% Cleartrip travel benefit on the Swiggy app
What your Cashback are worth
Realistic value per point by redemption route — the difference is what most people leave on the table.
Statement credit Direct cash adjustment — no conversion
The concern Value is 100% hostage to one app — a Swiggy price hike, a Zomato exclusive in your area, or a cap cut guts the card overnight.
The bottom line
The Swiggy HDFC card remains an outstanding option for frequent food and grocery delivery customers, returning 10% across the full Swiggy app ecosystem up to a ₹1,500 monthly ceiling for an affordable ₹500 annual charge. Applicants should keep in mind the ₹249 per-order minimum requirement and remember that the 10% app earnings and 5% partner retail rewards operate under separate ₹1,500 monthly limits.

2026 4 changes — 2 cuts, 2 improvements
▼ Fee Effective 15 May 2026
Dynamic currency conversion markup raised to 1.75%
1% markup → 1.75% markup
HDFC's MITC: "Dynamic currency conversion Markup Fee: With effect from 15th May 2026, a Markup fee of 1.75% will be levied on all transactions carried out in Indian Currency at an international location or at merchants which are located in India but registered overseas." This is separate from, and stacks on top of, the card's ordinary foreign-currency markup. It is the charge you pay for accepting a terminal's offer to bill you in rupees while abroad - always decline that offer and pay in the local currency. It also catches India-based purchases from merchants registered overseas, which is easy to trigger without leaving the country. The PIXEL MITC dates the same change 17 May 2026.

₹249 minimum per Swiggy transaction for 10% cashback
₹100 per transaction → ₹249 per transaction
HDFC's T&C §4.1: "W.e.f. from 21st April 2026" each Swiggy-app transaction must be ₹249 or more to earn the 10% cashback, up from a ₹100 minimum; the 5% online and 1% base tiers keep the ₹100 floor. Caps unchanged. HDFC confirmed the card was not devalued or migrated to the Swiggy BLCK variant.

Cashback starts adjusting within the same billing cycle
Credited in the following billing cycle → Adjusted within the same billing cycle
HDFC's T&C §4.2 dates this change "w.e.f. 18th April 2026" — a day after the Cleartrip addition and three days before the ₹249 minimum. A small but real improvement: cashback now offsets the balance you are about to pay rather than the next one.

Cleartrip joins the 5% online cashback bucket
No Cleartrip benefit → 5% cashback on Cleartrip, inside the existing 5% online ₹1,500/cycle cap
HDFC added Cleartrip to the card's 5% online category — "Transactions on Cleartrip will earn 5% cashback for statement starting 17th April 2026 basis the merchant name". It is an addition to the existing bucket, NOT a third cap: Table 1.1 lists Cleartrip under the same online block, which has a single ₹1,500-per-cycle cell. Cleartrip separately runs instant discounts of its own — 20% on hotels and 6.35% on flights, marked a limited-period offer from the same date.

2025 3 changes — 3 cuts
▼ Fee Effective 1 Jul 2025
1% fee added on rent, wallet loads and online gaming
No category surcharge on rent, wallet loads or gaming → 1% on rent (cap Rs 4,999 per transaction); 1% on wallet loads and on online skill-based gaming above Rs 10,000 a calendar month (cap Rs 4,999 a month)
HDFC's MITC: "Rent Pay Transactions: W.e.f. 1st July 2025, 1% fee on transaction amount will be levied on rental transactions... Fee capped at Rs 4999 per transaction"; "Wallet Loading (excl PayZapp) - W.e.f. 1st July 2025, 1% fee will be levied on Wallet loading spends exceeding Rs 10,000 in a calendar month"; "Online Skill based Gaming - W.e.f. 1st July 2025, 1% fee... exceeding Rs 10,000 in a calendar month". These are charges on top of the fact that most HDFC cards already earn zero reward points on the same categories - you pay to spend, and earn nothing for it. PayZapp wallet loads are exempt from the wallet fee.

▼ Fee Effective 1 Jul 2025
1% fee on utilities above Rs 50,000 and on third-party education payments
No surcharge on utility or education payments → 1% on utility spends above Rs 50,000 a calendar month (cap Rs 4,999 a month); 1% on education paid through third-party apps
HDFC's MITC: "Utility Charges: 1% fee will be levied on utility spends exceeding Rs 50,000 per Calendar month for consumer cards... Fee capped at Rs 4999 per month"; "Education Charges: 1% fee... on Education transactions done through third party applications like (but not limited to) CRED, Nobroker, Cheq etc." Paying school or college fees DIRECTLY to the institution is not charged - only routing them through a third-party app is. A 1% fee also applies to fuel transactions above Rs 15,000.

▼ Reward Effective 1 Jul 2025
Insurance reward points capped, online gaming stops earning
Insurance uncapped on most cards; online skill-based gaming earned points → Insurance capped at 2,000 reward points a month (5,000 on Diners Black, 10,000 on Infinia); online skill-based gaming earns nothing
HDFC's MITC: "With effect from 1st July 2025, Reward Points accrued for insurance transactions will have a maximum cap of... 2000 per month for all other credit cards" and "With effect from 1st July 2025, Online Skill-Based gaming transactions will not earn Reward Points/CashPoints on all the cards." Insurance premiums are a common way to hit a milestone quickly, so the cap matters more than its size suggests.

2024 1 change — 1 improvement
▲ Redemption Effective 21 Jun 2024
Cashback switched from Swiggy wallet to statement credit
Swiggy Money (Swiggy-only wallet, ~1-year expiry) → Statement credit adjusted against outstanding
From 21 June 2024 HDFC changed how cashback is paid: instead of Swiggy Money credited to the app wallet (spendable only on Swiggy and expiring within a year), it is now adjusted against the card statement outstanding. Earn rates and caps (10%/5% at ₹1,500, 1% at ₹500 per cycle) were unchanged, but the cashback became real, universally usable money — a rare revaluation.
