SBI Card AURUM
SBI's super-premium metal flagship, AURUM delivers a genuinely premium bundle — a 1-year Club Marriott membership, unlimited international lounges via a complimentary DreamFolks membership, 16 domestic visits a year (4 per quarter, add-on cards included), 16 golf rounds and an unusually generous direct free-movie benefit — wrapped around a base reward rate of about 1% (4 reward points per ₹100 at ₹0.25/point; fuel, rent, government and wallet loads are excluded). A milestone voucher ladder (Tata CliQ ₹1,500 at ₹1L/month, Tata CliQ Luxury ₹5,000 at ₹5L, Taj ₹10,000 at ₹10L, Apple ₹20,000 at ₹20L) can lift a high-spender's effective return toward ~3.7%, and a 40,000-point (~₹10,000) welcome benefit offsets much of the ₹9,999 fee (waived at ₹12 lakh). You buy this card for its specific perks, not its everyday earning, which loses cleanly to the HDFC Infinia it is priced against.

✓ Pros
- Metal card with unlimited international lounge access plus 16 domestic visits a year (4 a quarter, add-ons included)
- Complimentary 1-year Club Marriott membership, plus WSJ and Mint digital subscriptions
- 1-year Inflection Point Ventures membership (SBI values it at ₹29,382) — worth something only if you actually invest
- BookMyShow tickets worth ₹1,000 a month, 16 golf rounds and 12 golf lessons a year
- Concierge service for travel bookings and lifestyle management
- SBI's most prestigious card — suitable for high-profile relationship banking customers
✕ Cons
- ₹9,999 annual fee, and the ₹12 lakh spend needed to waive it is a high bar most holders will miss
- HDFC Infinia offers better points value per rupee at a similar fee (the Axis Magnus no longer does after its April 2026 devaluation)
- Club Marriott is most valuable only if you already stay or dine at Marriott properties
- SBI's service infrastructure may not match private bank premium card experience
- SBI's AURUM FAQ page still lists the Taj milestone as ₹8,000 at ₹8 lakh while the product page says ₹10,000 at ₹10 lakh — confirm with SBI before relying on it
Eligibility
SBI publishes no eligibility criteria for this card — no minimum income, no age band, no credit-score floor, and no document checklist. That is not an oversight on our part: the card is issued strictly by invitation, there is no public application form, and so there is nothing to qualify for in the usual sense. Any specific salary figure you see quoted for it elsewhere has been inferred by a third party, not stated by the bank.
What actually decides an invitation is the relationship behind it — balances held with the bank, spend on an existing card, and the banking segment you sit in. We set those signals out in how to get an invitation above, labelled for what they are: observed patterns, not published criteria.
How to redeem rewards
Ways to convert what you earn into real value.
🎁 AURUM's own rewards portal (rewards.aurumcreditcard.com), not SBI's Shop & Smile: flight & hotel e-gift vouchers, experiences and Nat Geo Expeditions at 1 ARP = ₹0.25
🎁 Points transfer to four partners — Air India Maharaja 5:1, Qatar Privilege Club 5:1, Club ITC 5:1, airasia 4:1 (min 500, in 500s). All four return less than the ₹0.25 the points are already worth, so transferring loses value
🎁 Milestone vouchers from Tata CLiQ Luxury, Apple and Taj on hitting spend thresholds
🎁 No ₹99 redemption fee (waived on AURUM; it applies to every other SBI card)
What your SBI Reward Points are worth

Airline / hotel transfer (co-brands & AURUM) Only four SBI cards can transfer Reward Points at all. The two Air India co-brands reach Air India alone, at 1:1 (⇒ ₹1/pt — the only SBI Reward Point route that beats cash). AURUM reaches four partners through its own portal — Air India 5:1, Qatar 5:1, Club ITC 5:1, airasia 4:1 — and EVERY ONE OF THEM LOSES MONEY: at 5:1 an Aurum point is worth ₹0.20 against the ₹0.25 SBI itself publishes for it, and the airasia route is ₹0.05. AURUM earns plain SBI Reward Points despite the 'AURUM Reward Points / ARP' branding: SBI's own T&C says points carry forward UNCONVERTED on upgrade to Aurum, keeping the old card's expiry, which no separate currency could do. Do not confuse any of this with SBI Card MILES, which earns Travel Credits — a genuinely different currency with 25 partners, and which reaches Club ITC at 2:1 where Aurum gets 5:1.

Full calculator, every currency → The concern The everyday earn is only ~1% (and excludes fuel/rent/government/wallet), so the value depends on the lounges, the memberships and climbing the milestone voucher ladder — rivals out-earn it on raw spend.
The bottom line
SBI Card AURUM is built around premium lifestyle privileges: unlimited international lounge visits, 16 domestic lounge accesses, complimentary golf, Club Marriott status, and regular movie perks combine to create a comprehensive luxury package. While heavy spending can push overall returns toward ~3.7% via the milestone ladder, its base reward rate of ~1% trails rival cards in the ₹10,000 fee bracket like the HDFC Infinia. AURUM is best evaluated on its tangible perks and milestone rewards rather than routine transactional earning.

◆ Launch Effective 3 Feb 2021
AURUM launched as SBI's super-premium metal card
SBI Card entered the super-premium segment with the tungsten-metal AURUM, replacing ELITE at the top of its range — ₹9,999 + GST fee, a 40,000 reward-point (~₹10,000) welcome benefit, unlimited international lounges and monthly BookMyShow movie tickets. Note: several 2021 write-ups also credited the launch card with a Taj Epicure membership. SBI has never published one on any AURUM page, and our own 2023 event shows the membership slot held Amazon Prime and Discovery+ until mid-2023, so we do not carry that claim.
