Kotak Zen Signature Credit Card
The Kotak Zen Signature offers domestic lounge access at a ₹1,500 fee, waived at a clearable ₹1.5 lakh of spend — decent value for a Kotak account holder who travels domestically. Kotak now markets it simply as the Kotak Zen Credit Card; the Zen Signature name survives in the card page URL, the eligibility page and the MITC, so both names describe the same product. It earns 10 Zen points per ₹150 on shopping and 5 per ₹150 on other eligible spends. What those are worth depends on how you redeem. A Zen point is ₹0.25 against Kotak's catalogue (mobile recharge, shopping, vouchers) but only ₹0.20 in cash, so the shopping rate is 1.67% or 1.33% and the base is 0.83% or 0.67%. Milestones pay 7,500 points at ₹3 lakh OR 15,000 at ₹6 lakh — one, not both. A 1,500-point welcome gift is credited once the ₹1,500 joining fee is actually realised, so a fee-free issue does not get it. The June 2025 revision cut into all of it. The cash value fell from ₹0.25 to ₹0.20 with a 2,000-point minimum, lounges became spend-gated at ₹75,000 a quarter, wallet loads, fuel, rent, online gaming and EMI conversions stopped earning entirely, and utility, education, insurance and government spends earn only up to per-cycle limits. All earning also stops at 6,500 points a billing cycle, which shopping alone reaches at ₹97,500. Two surcharge waivers survive the revision and are worth knowing about — 1% on fuel transactions of ₹500 to ₹5,000, capped at ₹3,500 an anniversary year, and a railway surcharge waiver of 1.8% online or 2.5% at the counter, capped at ₹500 a year. Since fuel itself earns no Zen points, the waiver is the only fuel benefit on the card. Judge it on the perks you will use, not the points.

✓ Pros
- 1.67% on shopping against the catalogue (10 Zen points per ₹150) — strong for the fee tier
- 2 domestic lounge visits a quarter (on ₹75,000 of prior-quarter spend) at a ₹1,500 fee
- Fee waived at ₹1.5L annual spend (₹12,500/month)
- 5 Zen points per ₹150 (0.83% catalogue) on other eligible spends
- 1,500-point welcome gift, credited once the ₹1,500 joining fee is realised (not on a fee-free issue)
- 1% fuel surcharge waiver up to ₹3,500 a year and a railway surcharge waiver up to ₹500, both intact after the 2025 revision
✕ Cons
- Kotak reward points ecosystem smaller than HDFC or Axis
- International lounge access limited to 3 Priority Pass visits a year
- Weaker earning on non-accelerated categories (5 Zen points per ₹150 = 0.83% catalogue, 0.67% cash)
- Fuel, rent, wallet loads, online gaming and EMI conversions earn nothing since 1 June 2025
- All earning stops at 6,500 points a billing cycle
- Cash redemption values a point at ₹0.20, down from ₹0.25 on 1 June 2025

The concern The 2025 revision spend-gated the lounges (₹75k/quarter), zeroed earning on fuel, rent, wallet, gaming and EMI, and capped several other categories — so occasional spenders get far less than the headline. A point is ₹0.25 only against the catalogue; cashing out returns ₹0.20, with a 2,000-point floor.
The bottom line
For Kotak account holders who frequently travel domestically, the Zen Signature offers reasonable utility at a ₹1,500 price point, delivering up to 1.67% return on catalogue shopping and lounge access when clearing the ₹1.5 lakh annual waiver. However, the June 2025 revisions introduced substantial cuts: reducing cash point valuations by 20%, linking lounge visits to a ₹75,000 quarterly spend gate, and ending rewards across rent, fuel, wallet, gaming, and EMI transactions. The card makes sense primarily if you actively utilize its specific perks.

Wallet, fuel, rent, gaming, utility, education, insurance & government spends earned points → Wallet, fuel, rent & gaming earn nothing; utility/education/insurance/government capped
From 1 June 2025 wallet loads, fuel, rent and online skill-based gaming stopped earning Zen points, and per-cycle earning caps were added — education and insurance up to ₹70,000, utilities up to ₹50,000 and government spends up to ₹40,000 per statement cycle. A 1% transaction fee also applies on wallet/gaming, fuel, utility and education spends once their per-cycle limits are crossed.

▼ Lounge Effective 1 Jun 2025
Domestic lounge access spend-gated at ₹75,000/quarter
Unconditional complimentary domestic lounge visits → 2 domestic visits per quarter only after ₹75,000 spend in the prior quarter
Effective 1 June 2025, Kotak made the Zen Signature's domestic lounge access conditional — the cardholder must spend ₹75,000 or more in a calendar quarter to unlock two complimentary domestic airport lounge visits the following quarter. The 3 international Priority Pass visits a year for the primary cardholder were unaffected.

3.5% per month → 3.75% per month
The monthly finance/interest charge on the Zen Signature now stands at 3.75%, which Kotak publishes. The earlier 3.5% rate and the 1 June 2025 date of the change are not published by Kotak and rest on secondary reporting, so the before-figure here is weaker evidence than the after-figure. The fuel surcharge waiver is 1% on ₹500–₹5,000 transactions, capped at ₹3,500 in an anniversary year; a railway surcharge waiver of 1.8% online or 2.5% at the counter, capped at ₹500 a year, also applies.

Kotak has never published a network for this card; the Signature suffix is not an issuer statement of a Visa Signature rail.
