Kotak League Platinum Credit Card

Entry levelFee variesCashbackRewardsTravelDining

Once a quietly smart low-fee pick for the urban movie-and-dining crowd, the Kotak League Platinum was knocked down a peg by a June 2025 devaluation (redemption minimums and category caps). Reward points are now worth up to ₹0.10 (less on cash), giving an effective rate of about 0.5% at best — 4 points per ₹150 base, 8 per ₹150 above ₹2 lakh of annual spend. The movie benefit is milestone-based (4 PVR tickets or 10,000 reward points per ₹1.25 lakh of spend every six months), not the monthly perk the catalog implied, and there is no lounge access. The ₹499 fee waives at ₹50,000. Hold it only if you will clear the milestone; otherwise a flat-cashback card serves you better.

The concern Points are worth only up to ₹0.10, the movie benefit is milestone-gated (not monthly), and there is a 2,000-point redemption minimum — the effective return is ~0.5% at best.

The bottom line

While the League Platinum previously catered nicely to urban moviegoers, the June 2025 revisions (capping point redemption at ~₹0.10, adding redemption minimums, and milestone-gating the movie tickets) reduced its general earn rate to roughly 0.5%. The card primarily makes sense if you consistently achieve the ₹1.25 lakh half-yearly milestone; below that threshold, standard cashback cards offer superior net value.
