IndusInd Bank Avios Visa Infinite Credit Card

PremiumFee variesTravel

The IndusInd Avios Visa Infinite is one of India's most unusual cards — it earns British Airways/Qatar Avios directly from rupee spend, one of the world's most valuable airline currencies. It pays 3 Avios per ₹200 on base spend (domestic and international alike), 6 per ₹200 on point-of-sale spend inside the one international region you nominate as your "preferred destination", 5 per ₹200 at British Airways' and Qatar Airways' own sites and apps, and 1 per ₹200 on government, utility, education and insurance. Online spend even at the nominated destination earns the base 3, and fuel earns nothing at all. A two-rung milestone ladder adds 18,000 bonus Avios at ₹8 lakh of annual spend and another 18,000 at ₹16 lakh cumulative (36,000 a year maximum), on top of a 20,000-Avios welcome bonus and a 5,000-Avios bonus on each annual renewal. Read the forex line carefully — the headline mark-up is 3.5%, and the discounted 1.5% rate applies only to card-present spend at that one nominated destination. Priority Pass lounge access runs to 2 domestic + 2 international visits a quarter. The fee is ₹10,000 joining and ₹5,000 a year thereafter, with no waiver. For a BA/Qatar flyer who will actively hunt award seats it is uniquely useful; for everyone else it is the wrong tool, and scarce ex-India award availability is the perennial risk.

️ lounge access ~ ₹20,000 /yr

Complimentary Priority Pass with 2 international and 2 domestic airport lounge visits each calendar quarter. IndusInd's 1-Apr-2026 domestic-lounge spend criteria do not name this card, so these visits are not spend-gated.

18,000 bonus Avios on your first ₹8,00,000 of spend in a year, credited 10 days after the statement in which the milestone is met.

🎯

milestone bonus ~ ₹18,000 /yr

A further 18,000 bonus Avios on the second ₹8,00,000 in a year (₹16,00,000 cumulative) — 36,000 bonus Avios a year is the published maximum.

milestone bonus ~ ₹5,000 /yr

5,000 bonus Avios on every annual renewal, credited 15 days after the renewal fee is received. There is no spend condition — it recurs each year for as long as you keep the card.

Should you get it?

Best for: Frequent international flyers who collect British Airways Avios, Travellers redeeming Avios for business-class and short-haul awards

Premium tier — a solid all-rounder for steady monthly spend.

Strongest value if you spend heavily on International ( 3% back).

Frequent travellers benefit from the included airport lounge access.

✓ Pros

  • Earns British Airways Avios directly on Indian rupee spends
  • Up to 6 Avios per ₹200 on card-present spend in your nominated preferred international destination
  • 20,000-Avios welcome bonus, up to 36,000 milestone Avios a year, and 5,000 more on every renewal
  • Priority Pass lounge access (2 domestic + 2 international a quarter, with no spend gate) and airport meet-and-greet
  • Avios transfer to British Airways and Iberia for premium-cabin value

✕ Cons

  • Avios value depends on redeeming for flights, not statement credit
  • ₹10,000 joining plus ₹5,000 annual fee needs frequent flying to justify, and there is no fee waiver
  • The forex mark-up is 3.5%, not 1.5% — the discounted rate applies only to card-present spend at the one international region you nominate, so online spend even there is charged the full rate
  • Fuel transactions earn no Avios at all — IndusInd stopped accruing on fuel across the portfolio on 1 April 2018
  • Best value only for British Airways / oneworld flyers

How to redeem rewards

Ways to convert what you earn into real value.

🎁 Transfer Avios to British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus

🎁 Redeem Avios for reward flights, upgrades and partner bookings

🎁 IndusInd charges ₹149 + GST for a cash redemption and ₹100 + GST for every other redemption category — on this card the ₹100 line is the one that applies

What your Avios (British Airways Executive Club / Qatar Privilege Club) are worth

Realistic value per point by redemption route — the difference is what most people leave on the table.

Reward flights in the nominated Avios programme ₹1 per Avios, matching BA_EXECUTIVE_CLUB and QATAR_PRIVILEGE_CLUB. The holder nominates the programme at application; Avios cannot be taken as statement credit

₹ 1.00 /pt

The concern Avios value depends on BA/partner award availability ex-India, which is scarce — casual collectors may sit on points they cannot spend well. The 1.5% forex rate is also narrower than it looks, applying only to card-present spend at one nominated destination.

The bottom line

The IndusInd Avios Visa Infinite serves as a dedicated points engine for travellers seeking to accumulate high-value airline miles on everyday Indian card spend. It offers substantial upside for frequent flyers redeeming across British Airways and Qatar Airways networks, though its utility is constrained by the 3.5% baseline foreign currency fee and the removal of Qatar Privilege Club Gold status in the 2025 product update.

◆ Welcome Scheduled Jan 2026 · reversed

Limited 40,000-Avios welcome promo (pulled early)

Standing 20,000 Avios → 40,000 Avios for Jan 2026 approvals, then reverted to 20,000

A limited promo doubled the welcome to 40,000 Avios (20,000 standard + 20,000 bonus on ₹5,000 spend within 30 days) for cards approved 1–31 Jan 2026, but IndusInd paused it early (~8 Jan) citing technical issues. The standing welcome reverted to 20,000 Avios plus 5,000 Avios on renewal-fee payment.

2025 5 changes — 3 cuts, 2 improvements

▼ Benefit Effective 21 Dec 2025

Complimentary air-accident insurance withdrawn

Complimentary air-accident cover provided with the card → No air-accident cover

On 21 December 2025 IndusInd discontinued the complimentary air-accident insurance feature across its credit cards, stating simply that the coverage "stands discontinued". The bank published no replacement and named no exempt card. Note that several IndusInd product pages still described the cover months afterwards — the Avios, Duo, Pioneer Private and Platinum pages all still advertised it in August 2026 — so a reader may encounter the old wording on IndusInd's own site; the dated withdrawal notice is the operative statement. Other insurance benefits are unaffected: lost-card liability, Total Protect fraud cover, travel insurance and purchase protection continue where the card carried them.

▲ Reward Effective Apr 2025

Base earn tripled to 3 Avios per ₹200

1 Avios per ₹200 → 3 Avios per ₹200 (6 on preferred destination POS, 5 on BA/Qatar)

The same April 2025 revaluation lifted base earning from a token 1 Avios per ₹200 to 3 per ₹200 on general spend, with 6 per ₹200 at a chosen preferred international destination (POS) and 5 per ₹200 on British Airways / Qatar direct spend. A 5,000-Avios renewal bonus was also added.

▲ Fee Effective Apr 2025

Joining fee slashed to ₹10,000

₹40,000 joining + ₹10,000 annual → ₹10,000 joining + ₹5,000 annual

IndusInd cut the joining fee from ₹40,000 to ₹10,000 and the annual renewal fee from ₹10,000 to ₹5,000 (both plus taxes), part of an April 2025 revaluation that made the card viable for a far broader audience.

Verification: IndusInd Bank ↗ · Confidence: High

▼ Milestone Effective Apr 2025

Milestone cap trimmed to 36,000 Avios/year

25,000 x2 at ₹8L each = up to 50,000/yr → 18,000 x2 (₹8L annual + ₹16L cumulative) = up to 36,000/yr

Alongside the cheaper fee and better earn, the milestone ladder was reshaped downward — from two 25,000-Avios rungs (up to 50,000/yr) at launch to two 18,000-Avios rungs (up to 36,000/yr). The exact date sits within the April 2025 revamp; framed to that window.

Verification: IndusInd Bank ↗ · Confidence: Reconstructed

▼ Benefit Effective 2025

Qatar Airways Gold status withdrawn

Complimentary Qatar Gold status fast-track → No complimentary tier status

The complimentary Qatar Airways Privilege Club Gold membership that came with the Qatar variant was discontinued, trimming the case for Qatar loyalists. IndusInd never published a dated change notice, so the timing is inferred to the 2025 revaluation window.
