CUB SalarySe Level Up Credit Card
The CUB SalarySe Level Up is an app-first RuPay credit card from the SalarySe app, issued by City Union Bank for salaried users. Rewards are paid in SalarySe SCoins, and the number that governs everything is CUB's own: 5 SCoins = ₹1. Every rate the marketing quotes is a SCoins-per-₹100 figure, so read it at a fifth of face value. Base earning — anything not routed through SalarySe UPI, plus rent, railways, insurance, education, telecom and government — is 1 SCoin per ₹100, or 0.2%. Route the spend through SalarySe UPI (or pay online with the card) and it becomes 5 SCoins per ₹100 (1%), rising to 10 per ₹100 (2%) on the portion of monthly spend above ₹20,000. The hook is the salary-day bonus on the 1st and last of each month: 25 SCoins per ₹100 on the free virtual card (about 5%) or 37.5 on the paid physical one (7.5%) — but it only unlocks after ₹5,000 of ordinary spend that cycle, and counts only the first ₹15,000 of salary-day spend, capping it near ₹750 a month. SCoins redeem only inside the SalarySe app and expire after 18 months.

✓ Pros
- Lifetime-free virtual card on RuPay, so it works on UPI
- 1% on SalarySe-UPI spends, rising to 2% on monthly spend above ₹20,000
- A salary-day burst worth about 5% on the 1st and last of the month
- 1% fuel surcharge waiver on ₹400–₹3,000 fills, up to ₹300 a statement cycle
✕ Cons
- SCoins are worth ₹0.20 each — the headline "37.5% / 10% / 5%" are points rates, not cash returns
- Spends outside SalarySe UPI earn just 0.2%, including rent, insurance, education and telecom
- The salary-day bonus needs ₹5,000 of other spend first and counts only ₹15,000 per cycle

What your Reward Points are worth
Realistic value per point by redemption route — the difference is what most people leave on the table.
Statement credit / catalogue Most common; lowest value
Flights & hotels via issuer portal BEST Higher value on travel bookings
The concern The advertised "37.5% / 10% / 5%" are SCoins per ₹100, not cash — at 5 SCoins to the rupee they are 7.5% / 2% / 1%, and the top rate needs the paid physical card. Base spend earns 0.2%.
The bottom line
This is a no-cost UPI card with one legitimately useful feature buried under a fair amount of fine print. Once the SCoin figures are converted to cash, the real payout is 1% on spending routed through SalarySe UPI, 2% on the slice above ₹20,000 a month, and close to 5% during the two salary-day windows, subject to a ₹15,000 spending cap — which tops out at around ₹750 a month for someone maximizing every rule. Spending outside SalarySe UPI, meanwhile, earns only 0.2%. Lounge access, notably, belongs exclusively to the paid physical card and isn't part of this free version. It works well as a no-cost secondary card for a salaried user willing to work within the app's structure, but offers little beyond that for anyone else.
