CRED IndusInd Bank RuPay Credit Card

Mid-tierFee varies

The CRED IndusInd Bank RuPay Credit Card is CRED's mass-market co-brand (not the invite-only 18-karat CRED Sovereign) — a genuinely useful everyday earner if you live inside the CRED app. It pays 5 CRED Points per ₹100 (an effective ~5% when points redeem at ₹1) on e-commerce, CRED Pay, CRED Store, CRED Travel and CRED UPI, plus 1 point per ₹100 on international spends. Read the UPI line carefully: IndusInd separates CRED UPI (5% back) from CRED UPI Scan & Pay, which earns 1% and no more than 500 CRED Points in a statement cycle — and Scan & Pay done outside the CRED app earns nothing at all. The other catch is the 5,000-point monthly cap across all accelerated categories, so the 5% rate is really worth up to ~₹1 lakh of qualifying spend a statement cycle; beyond that, and on ordinary offline spends, earning drops to a token base rate. The first year is free; a ₹499 + GST fee applies from the second year. CRED Points expire two years after issue, and the redemption value is ₹1 only for CRED flights, hotels and select merchants — where no more than 70% of your points balance can be used in a single transaction — while bill payments redeem at ₹0.50 with no such ceiling.

Should you get it?

Best for: Heavy CRED-app users who route e-commerce and UPI spends through CRED, Online shoppers who can stay within the 5,000-point monthly cap, RuPay-UPI spenders who want a category earner to pair with a broad everyday card

Mid tier — a solid all-rounder for steady monthly spend.

Strongest value if you spend heavily on Online Shopping ( 5% back).

✓ Pros

  • A real ~5% (5 CRED Points/₹100) on e-commerce, CRED Pay/Store/Travel and CRED UPI
  • RuPay UPI-linked — CRED UPI earns the accelerated rate, while CRED UPI Scan & Pay earns 1% capped at 500 CRED Points a statement cycle
  • 1% back on utility bills and insurance premiums when they are paid inside the CRED app
  • First year free
  • 1% fuel surcharge waiver on ₹500–₹5,000 fuel spends, up to ₹300 a month

✕ Cons

  • The 5% rate is capped at 5,000 CRED Points a statement cycle (~₹1 lakh of qualifying app spend)
  • CRED UPI Scan & Pay earns only 1%, capped at 500 CRED Points a statement cycle, and earns nothing at all if the Scan & Pay is done outside the CRED app
  • A CRED Point is worth ₹1 only for CRED flights, hotels and select merchants — bill payments redeem at ₹0.50
  • On the ₹1 rail (flights, hotels, CRED Store, CRED Pay merchants) you can use at most 70% of your points balance in a single transaction; only card and utility bill payments, which redeem at ₹0.50, allow 100%
  • Utility bills and insurance premiums earn only when they are paid inside the CRED app — paid direct to the biller or insurer they earn nothing
  • Ordinary offline spends outside the CRED app earn only a token base rate
  • ₹499 + GST fee applies from the second year (first year free)
  • CRED Points expire two years after issue
  • From 15 June 2026 IndusInd charges 1% + GST on fuel spends above ₹30,000 a statement cycle, a 2% + GST dynamic-currency-conversion fee when an overseas merchant bills you in rupees (this is on top of the 3.5% forex markup, not instead of it), and 1% + GST on transport spends above ₹40,000 a cycle

How to redeem rewards

Ways to convert what you earn into real value.

🎁 CRED flights & hotels via CRED Travel (~₹1 per CRED Point) — up to 70% of your points balance per transaction

🎁 CRED Store, CRED Pay merchants and vouchers via the CRED app (~₹1 per CRED Point) — the same 70%-per-transaction ceiling applies

🎁 Credit card and utility bill payments inside the CRED app (~₹0.50 per CRED Point) — up to 100% of the points balance, the only route with no per-transaction ceiling

The concern The 5% is narrow and capped — it applies only to e-commerce and CRED-app transactions, stops at 5,000 points a cycle, and a CRED Point is worth ₹1 only for CRED travel/merchants (₹0.50 for bill payments), so real-world value is lower than the headline rate suggests.

The bottom line

As a category-specific earner, this card ranks among the better RuPay-UPI options on the market — a genuine ~5% return within the CRED ecosystem isn't common — but the fine print around caps and redemption deserves a close read. The 5,000-point ceiling limits that 5% rate to roughly ₹1 lakh of app spend per cycle, offline spending outside CRED earns only a token rate, and points hold their full ₹1 value solely for CRED travel bookings and select merchants (dropping to ₹0.50 for bill payments). Best used as a targeted online/UPI card alongside a broader everyday card, rather than relied on as a single all-purpose wallet.

Dynamic Currency Conversion fee doubled 1% → 2%

1% + taxes → 2% + GST

From 15 June 2026 the Dynamic Currency Conversion mark-up — levied when an international transaction, or one at an India-based merchant registered overseas, is billed in rupees rather than the local currency — doubled from 1% to 2% + GST on this card. Premium variants were held at 1%. DCC is avoidable: always choose to be billed in the merchant's local currency.

Fuel fee threshold cut ₹50,000 → ₹30,000 a cycle

1% + GST above ₹50,000/cycle → 1% + GST above ₹30,000/cycle

From 15 June 2026 IndusInd charges 1% + GST on cumulative fuel spends above ₹30,000 in a statement cycle on this card, down from the ₹50,000 threshold that applied until 14 June 2026. The bank split its portfolio in two and put the CRED RuPay card in the lower ₹30,000 tier; premium variants (Indulge, Celesta, Crest, Pinnacle, EazyDiner Signature, Tiger, Avios) kept ₹50,000. This is a fee on the spend itself, separate from the fuel surcharge waiver.

From 15 June 2026 IndusInd levies 1% + GST on cumulative transport spends above ₹40,000 in a statement cycle — MCCs 4111, 4112, 4131 and 4784, covering cabs, rail, bus and tolls. Air travel is excluded. Only Pioneer Private, Pioneer Heritage and Indus Solitaire are exempt, so this card is in scope.

▼ Benefit Effective 21 Dec 2025

Complimentary air-accident insurance withdrawn

Complimentary air-accident cover provided with the card → No air-accident cover

On 21 December 2025 IndusInd discontinued the complimentary air-accident insurance feature across its credit cards, stating simply that the coverage "stands discontinued". The bank published no replacement and named no exempt card. Note that several IndusInd product pages still described the cover months afterwards — the Avios, Duo, Pioneer Private and Platinum pages all still advertised it in August 2026 — so a reader may encounter the old wording on IndusInd's own site; the dated withdrawal notice is the operative statement. Other insurance benefits are unaffected: lost-card liability, Total Protect fraud cover, travel insurance and purchase protection continue where the card carried them.
